Abstract | ||
The presentation will focus on mechanisms used by Wikipedia to present two distinct images of itself to different audiences by using what is referred to in the legal literature as 'acoustic separation'. Using these mechanisms, embedded in the infra-structure of the Wiki software, Wikipedia can present itself to new editors as free, equal and fair, while at the same time allowing administrators to execute wide discretion and use sanctions in an authoritative manner. | ||
