About the presenters | ||
Joan R. Gomà is professor of manufacturing processes in Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He is also director of a technological center specialized in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) technologies. He is coauthor of two books on manufacturing technologies and has published 14 papers and holds 10 patents, 2 of them international.
He started editing Catalan Wikipedia on September the 2th 2007. Since then he has been editing regularly. Wikipedia has become his hobby as there are people that loves skiing or traveling he loves editing. He is pesident of the “Associació d’amics de la Viquipèdia”, a chapter like association whose main goal is to give support and promote Wikimedia projects outside cyberspace in Catalan speaking territories.Góngora is an administrator and bureaucrat at the Spanish language Wikipedia, registered since July 2006. There, he has also acted in the Arbitration Committee during 2008. With eleven featured articles and over 16,000 edits, he has also an active account in the Catalan version. For that project, he was appointed checkuser in March 2009. He holds around 400 articles created in that language, and he is currently part of the Associació d'Amics de la Viquipèdia, an organization that promotes Wikimedia projects in Catalan. | ||

The region where Catalan is spoken spreads over 4 European countries: Andorra, France, Spain and Italy. Catalan wikimedians have joined and created an association to support and promote Wikimedia projects in this region. In this presentation we explain our experience, activities, ideas for future, and our point of view regarding possible cooperation with Wikimedia France and Wikimedia Italy. | ||
