About the leader
Siebrand Mazeland, married and father of three, is an IT professional from The Netherlands. For the past five years he has mostly been active in delivering editorial solutions for magazine publishers. He is active as a volunteer MediaWiki contributor, most often in the capacity of project lead of translatewiki.net, a localisation platform for translation communities, language communities, and open source projects, with MediaWiki and its extensions as a flagship project. He has also made considerable contributions to the Dutch language Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and is active as an interwiki bot operator in all Wikipedias.
Abstract
This workshop will be a hands-on event for native speakers of non-English languages who are interested in making MediaWiki available in their native language by contributing to the MediaWiki localization project at translatewiki.net. It aims to shorten the learning curve and breed enthusiastic and active, lasting contributors to the localization project.
